Hickory House Day Nursery in Daventry provides care for children from birth to four years of age. The day nursery is open from Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, throughout the year, and accepts government funding for eligible two, three, and four-year-olds. At its inspection in March 2024, Ofsted judged the overall effectiveness of the nursery to be 'Good'.

The inspector found that children are happy, engage quickly in their learning and are supported by positive relationships with staff. Children enjoy the physical play area, where they can strengthen their muscles and develop coordination. Staff were observed showing children how to build a secure foundation for a structure in the sandpit. The special educational needs coordinator works with parents and other professionals to put support in place, which helps children with SEND to make good progress.

SEND provision

The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) works closely with parents and other professionals to enable children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) to make good progress in their learning. The SENCo uses her experience and knowledge to act quickly and puts appropriate support in place. As a result, children with SEND make good progress.

Outdoor space

Children particularly enjoy the physical play area, where they strengthen their muscles and learn how to coordinate their body movements. Children happily work together to build a mountain in the sand pit. Staff show children how to build a secure foundation.

My daughter attended this nursery and we all loved it! She always felt welcome and always happy to go. The staff is warm, Kind and friendly! My daughter miss them all and she is always talking about her time there
