JGB Active Daycare is a nursery in Daventry that provides a unique blend of early years education and active learning. The nursery focuses on developing children through sports, dance, and movement, integrating these physical activities with the seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

Each month, children explore a new topic and theme through various sports like gymnastics, football, tennis, and basketball, aiming to enhance physical strength, coordination, teamwork, language, literacy, early maths, science understanding, and self-expression. The nursery uses an online portal called Baby's Days to keep parents informed about their child's progress, observations, and daily routines, including photos and videos. They emphasise strong partnerships with families and offer a safe, stimulating environment with spacious classrooms, soft play areas, outdoor play, and sleeping rooms.

Every child is supported by a dedicated key person to ensure individualised care and attention.

The nursery offers sessions from 9am to 3pm, with both funded and private hours available. A registration fee is required for non-funded hours, and private hours require one month's fees paid in advance.

How they support every child

SEND provision

All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), are curious about the activities on offer. Staff know the children well and plan the curriculum effectively so all children can build on what they know already. Children with SEND are supported well with their communication, with staff adapting their language and using signing to ensure understanding.

Outdoor space

Toddlers are encouraged to count ducks in the water tray outside. The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact that this was having on children's learning.

Such a wonderful setting, ran by superb people. The setting is so spacious with a variety of activities to complete both indoor and outdoor which my little girl loves. My little one goes there and she LOVES it! She’s so developed for a 3 year old and this is mainly down to JGB. My 3 year old is so active and JGB is the perfect setting for her. Highly highly recommend!

Lara and Helen are amazing and provided me with the exact service I required on the day. They demonstrated an outstanding attitude towards employee and child safety and provided significant contributions to solutions and discussions. JGB has been a wonderful nursery and looked after my daughter so well, she’s learnt so much and is 100% ready for her transfer to primary school. The teachers did a wonderful job of helping her to settle in when she first joined and I’m sure without them she wouldn’t be as confident as she is now. The setting has so many activities, inside and out, which change regularly so she never got bored. There’s also air con which is a real bonus at this time of year!! I can’t praise them enough and she’ll definitely miss all her lovely teachers and the fun she had.

I was very impressed with the entertainment provided during the disco and the overall quality of the equipment, facilities and overall cleanliness of the venue. Choosing JGB Active Daycare for the 6th birthday party of my daughter was definitely the right decision. All my daughter’s friends and younger siblings had a great time.

I had my daughter’s party at JGB Daycare last weekend with 26 kids (aged 3 to 5), and it was brilliant! Lara, the owner, was so lovely to arrange everything with, she made it all so easy, and the day ran so smoothly. The venue was clean, tidy, and perfect for little ones. The party started with free play, then a food and cake break, followed by party games in the last 45 minutes. The kids loved musical bumps, musical statues, and dancing under the disco lights—it was such a fun atmosphere! All the children had a fantastic time, and I’ve had great feedback from parents too. I’d 100% recommend it for a stress-free, fun party!
