About this day nursery

Holy Cross Pre-School Nursery, established in February 2014, operates as both a nursery and a Kids' Club in Sutton Coldfield, North Birmingham. The setting, holding a 'Good' Ofsted rating, caters to children aged 2 to 4 years during nursery hours and up to 11 years for its Kids' Club services.

Sharing a site with Holy Cross Catholic Primary School, the Kids' Club extends its care to both nursery attendees and primary school pupils. Open during term time from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, the nursery prioritises full-time places but also offers part-time options.

Children benefit from daily cooked lunches prepared on-site, which are included in the nursery fees. The nursery fosters a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging children to explore the world, build positive relationships, and develop a sense of community through engaging learning experiences guided by dedicated childcare professionals.

They actively participate in school assemblies, productions, and special masses, with their excellent behaviour frequently commended. The curriculum incorporates various lessons, including 'Master of Maths,' 'Super Sportsperson,' 'Blossoming Bookworm,' 'Considerate Citizen,' and 'Wonderful Writer,' aiming to provide a holistic developmental experience.

The admissions policy considers several factors, including 'looked-after' children, siblings of current Holy Cross Catholic Primary School students, and proximity to the school and parish. The nursery also caters to children with individual needs, provided those needs can be met successfully with appropriate support.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff swiftly identify any additional needs to help close gaps in children's learning. Staff caring for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) have a deep knowledge of their unique personalities. Providing an inclusive environment is at the heart of staff's practice, with all children participating in 'bucket time,' a targeted session for children with SEND. The manager works closely with the nursery's special educational needs coordinator to ensure that any additional funding children receive is used to enhance their experiences.

Outdoor space

The rich learning environment, both indoors and outdoors, makes a significant contribution to children's development and learning. The curriculum incorporates opportunities for children to learn about the changing seasons through using the forest area. Children learn about the benefits of fresh produce as they care for the vegetables and fruits in the allotment.

Wonderful school! :) The nursery is clean, bright and all the teachers are very kind and loving, my kid loves going to school everyday, always with smile and happy. It's a forest near school and they always go out to discover the nature. The teachers are work hard and loves the children. My kid is not good at English and they will try different ways to communicate with him. I am very appreciated all their efforts and loves. 💕 I would recommend the nursery. 👍

All three of my children have attended holy cross pre-school nursery. I can not recommend them enough. The staff are amazing, thoughtful, caring and go the extra mile to provide the best care for all their children. My kids always came out smiling and developed all sorts of interests and skills whilst there. They still attend the pre-school wrap around care, for which I would be lost without, as a working mom. It is lovely to see how the older children interact with the younger children, along with well planned and thought out activities to suit every child.
