Jan Pre-School and Nursery is dedicated to fostering a positive, respectful, and home-like atmosphere where children can thrive. The management team includes an experienced, qualified teacher and practitioners who prioritise high-quality care and tailor learning experiences to each child's individual needs.
The nursery emphasises creating a stimulating environment that sparks curiosity and engagement, adaptable to different age groups. This setting is regularly evaluated to ensure its effectiveness.
A key focus is on children's well-being, which is supported by a refurbished garden, access to a field, and fresh, healthy meals prepared on-site. The nursery also aims to cultivate strong communication skills, encouraging children to read at home and take responsibility for their book bags.
What it's like
Children are greeted warmly and leave their parents confidently, chatting to staff. Staff understand the expectations for all children's development, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), which leads to a curriculum that ensures progression in all learning areas. Behaviour is well managed, with children encouraged to take turns and use "kind hands".
Fees are structured by age bands: 6 months to 2 years, 2 to 3 years, and 3 to 5 years. Rates are available weekly, daily, half-daily, or hourly. Fees include meals for under threes, while funded children pay for consumables unless on specific limited places.

Areas to develop
Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection
They feel that staff are supportive and that their children have good relationships with their key person and other staff.
They appreciate the regular updates they receive, both verbally when they pick up their children and throughout the day via the online app.
They feel that the manager and staff are approachable if they have any questions or concerns.
Inclusion & environment
Staff have a clear understanding of the expectations for all children's development, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). This results in a curriculum which ensures progression in all areas of learning as children transition between rooms.
Older children enjoy creating an assault course using tyres and planks and are supported by staff to traverse it. Their physical development and problem-solving skills are supported by a range of climbing, balancing and exploratory activities in the garden, as well as activities to support their well-being, such as yoga. Mark making using chalks on the floor in the garden is encouraged.
A great nursery, with lovely staff. Our Son started at Jan when he was 8 months old, and has settled in really well. The Nursery carers are very attentive and nurturing to the children and ensure they are always developing. The staff have made a real effort to get to know our Son and seem to make sure each child gets the individual care they need. Whenever we drop him off he has a huge smile on his face, excited for the day. Thank you Naz, Haleema, Fouzia and the rest of the team at Jan for taking care of our baby so well. We feel very lucky to have found such a nice Nursery.
Read on GoogleWe’ve just come to the end of a truly wonderful journey at this nursery, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the care, love, and support my son has received here. From day one, the manager Ms N Hannan has been warm, approachable, and genuinely invested in the wellbeing of every child. Her leadership creates such a positive and nurturing environment. She has always been very supportive in every regard and helped us whenever required. A special thank you to Fauzia, whose kindness and calm presence have always stood out. She’s one of those people who just naturally puts children and parents at ease. And most of all, I want to thank my son’s key worker, Ejaana. The bond she built with him was so beautiful to see. She saw him for who he was, encouraged him in all the right ways, and truly helped him blossom. The patience, creativity, and genuine care she brings every day made such a big difference in his early years. Rest of the staff was always very friendly and kind. And looked after my son in the best way possible. We’ll always look back at this nursery with warmth and gratitude. Thank you all for giving our son such a happy and loving start.
Read on GoogleI have to say that this is one of the worst settings I have had the displeasure of stepping into. This is solely due to the manager of the nursery. She is highly unprofessional with how she speaks to parents and talks down at them. I have worked in education for over 10 years and I would never dream of speaking to a parent and using derogatory phrases about their child like she does. She also does not have time to speak to a parent about concerns regarding their child. She has made up many claims about my child and as mentioned before, extremely unprofessional. One plus point about the place is that other members of staff are lovely and my child’s key worker was brilliant, shame the manager does not know how to deal or communicate with parents. Very lucky to have moved my child into a setting with wonderful, caring and most importantly, a manager who actually cares about the child and the parents, reassuring us that our child is in good hands.
Read on GoogleMy son has been attending the nursery since last November and we've been happy with the level of care he has received. He has always had a great key-worker and it's clear the nursery workers know him, know his interests and help him follow them. They are very patient with him, explaining things around him. The nursery manager has always been happy to take feedback from us to make sure he is happy and having a nice time at nursery.
Read on GoogleMy twin boys have been at Jan for 11 months (since they were 8 months old) and we couldn't be happier with the level of care and management. As the nursery is relatively small, all the staff know the children and their little personalities really well, which we love. Naz the manager/owner is truly passionate about her nursery. We get daily updates from key workers about activities etc. We have been at the nursery practically since it opened, and as a new nursery it has had a few ups and downs as any new nursery does, but this does not take away from the constant improvements and excellent level of care, management and engagement for the children. Would highly recommend Jan Preschool.
