About this day nursery

The Marian Missionary Sisters of the Poor (MMSP) is a Catholic organisation dedicated to serving vulnerable and excluded individuals through education, prayer, and family support. Founded on December 29, 2000, by Mother Maria Chioma Emeagi and co-founded by Rev.

Fr. Dr. Augustine Ihedinma, the congregation is the first Black-founded community of religious sisters in Europe.

Their mission is rooted in Christ's compassionate love, aiming to bring hope, dignity, and joy to those in need. They offer a range of services including full day care for children aged 0-4, short break services for disabled children and young people, and breakfast and after-school clubs for children aged 3-14.

Additionally, they run Saturday School and Holiday Clubs for ages 2-14, focusing on academic and enrichment activities. The Sisters live a life of prayer and community, guided by values of faith, compassion, simplicity, justice, and inclusion.

They strive to respond to changing global needs with courage and mercy, envisioning a Christ-centred world where love, justice, and peace prevail, and all individuals, especially the marginalised, can live with dignity.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are supported very well. Leaders and staff work closely with parents and external professionals to ensure that targeted support plans help children to achieve. Staff use visual timelines and the picture exchange system to support children's language development and to help them understand routines.

Outdoor space

Children develop their physical skills during outdoor play. They show good coordination and spatial awareness as they skilfully navigate the trikes and wheeled toys.

EAL / language support

Children who speak English as an additional language are well supported by staff. Staff appreciate and value the rich, cultural diversity and languages of the children who attend. Staff take time to learn key words to give children confidence to communicate in their home language. This contributes to raising children's self-esteem.

My grandchildren go there. The nuns and mother are lovely. It makes the children happy like a home away from home. They also help children with their homework. Have reccomended to others who want children dropped off to school and pick up from school.

Staff are warm and friendly. The children always look forward to going and that gives some peace that they are well looked after. Good flexibility and quality for money.
