Children happily and securely explore and play, building close relationships with their key person. They learn the nursery’s promises and quickly engage in play activities, supported by effective settling-in sessions.

The well-sequenced curriculum, tailored to children's needs and interests, ensures good progress. Children enjoy exploring the garden to find bugs and insects, an interest extended through activities such as using magnifying glasses to examine insect features.

Staff model respect for the natural world by discussing birds and their nests, encouraging children to be caring and respect the environment. Physical development is encouraged through activities like building obstacle courses and balancing on planks, as well as running games and hiding.

Younger children develop fine motor skills by pouring their own drinks, while older children learn to use knives safely for cutting lunch. The nursery has successfully addressed weaknesses from the previous inspection, providing staff with coaching and bespoke training to develop their practice and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum.

Leaders are ambitious for all children and aim to provide high-quality and inclusive care. Parents are kept well-informed about their child's progress and receive suggestions for extending learning at home, such as scavenger hunts.

How they support every child

Outdoor space

Children spend time exploring the garden to find bugs and insects. This interest is extended by incorporating activities that enable children to examine the features of insects. Staff model respect for the natural world as they talk to the children about respecting what they see in the garden, such as watching birds in the trees.

Moved my 22mth old to this nursery from childminder in May this year. 6 months later she is brimming with confidence, and her skills have really grown. She's so happy at Kids Planet Gedling and it was the best move we could have made for her. The only thing that is a bit of a teething issue at the moment is a huge staffing overhaul that seems to be happening at the moment, but once thats settled I'm sure things will be running a-ok again 😍
