About this day nursery

Kids Planet West Bridgford, established in 2022, is a welcoming childcare setting for children aged 0-4 years, operating from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. The nursery received a 'Good' rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 22nd May 2024.

Children confidently enter the nursery and are warmly greeted by staff, who have carefully planned a range of engaging activities. The curriculum is designed to complement home life, offering a broad spectrum of experiences.

For instance, children enjoy an allotment where they help cultivate vegetables and herbs, which are then used in cooking and baking activities. The nursery also provides yoga sessions and hosts visits from emotional support animals, enriching the children's experiences.

Communication and language development are actively promoted; staff introduce new vocabulary and concepts, such as during potion-making activities where children learn about fragrance, sinking, and floating. The Special Educational Needs Coordinator ensures that children with special educational needs and/or disabilities receive appropriate support.

For children who speak English as an additional language, staff provide comprehensive assistance, including learning key words and rhymes in the child's home language, recording parents speaking in their native tongue for children to listen to, and utilising sign language, pictures, and objects to enhance understanding and vocabulary. Parents frequently report satisfaction with their child's progress, attributing it to the guidance provided by staff to support learning at home.

Children are encouraged to develop independence, for example, by serving their own dinners and washing their hands, and staff foster personal, social, and emotional development through stories about emotions, cosy areas, and calming aids.
