Lammas Green at Horniman, established in September 2023, is located within a purpose-built facility on the grounds of Horniman Primary School. The day nursery is dedicated to providing a rich and diverse learning environment, encouraging children to explore and engage with their surroundings through a variety of activities and trips.

These include regular visits to Crystal Palace Park for nature exploration, weekly outings to a bookshop to foster an interest in literature, and family excursions to places like Chinatown, farms, and theatres. The curriculum emphasises a child-centred approach, allowing children to develop at their own pace in a structured yet playful setting.

Daily activities incorporate mindfulness sessions to promote self-esteem and positive social interactions, dance and music sessions for physical development and confidence building, as well as singing and storytelling to enhance communication and language skills. Phonics sessions are held daily to prepare children for school, and weekly French sessions introduce simple words and phrases.

The day nursery focuses on developing expressive arts and design through activities like painting and junk modelling, physical development through movement and fine motor skills, and understanding the world by investigating the local community and how things work. Communication and language are integrated into all aspects of the day, creating a language-rich environment.

The nursery prioritises personal, social, and emotional development, ensuring every child feels valued, safe, and nurtured. They also encourage curiosity with ICT equipment and aim to give children the best possible start before full-time education.

The nursery prides itself on its commitment to high-quality childcare, valuing parental feedback, and working closely with the local Early Years team. They are registered with Ofsted and are affiliated with the National Pre School Learning Alliance.

The team plans activities "in the moment" based on daily observations to meet individual needs and interests. Development is monitored through daily discussions with parents, reports, parent evenings, and online learning journeys.
