About this day nursery

Laugh N Learn Day Nursery, located in Birmingham (B8 2LJ), is a childcare setting for children aged 0-4 years. Registered with Ofsted on 08/07/2013, the nursery operates Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, providing 87 places for children.

The dedicated staff team implements focused support for children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND), collaborating with professional agencies to create personalised plans and offering regular training to SEND staff. While older children enjoy timetabled access to outdoor play, the report notes that babies do not have daily access to fresh air, and toddlers' outdoor time is insufficient for purposeful play.

The nursery encourages positive behaviour, sharing, and kindness among children, and older children are supported in developing independence during activities like putting on coats. The curriculum, however, currently lacks ambition and breadth, meaning not all children consistently build on their existing skills or make rapid progress in their learning.

What it's like

Staff actively encourage children to understand the importance of sharing and kindness, leading to positive behaviour across the setting. I just came here after looking at the negative reviews specially about the staff. And I feel this would be very unfair to not say anything on my part. Laugh and learn is a very accommodating and flexible nursery I have ever known in this area. I have been searching for good nurseries for a very long time being an over protective mum I would always ask to go for trial days in almost every nursery within 10 miles around me and I must say laugh and learn is the one I would like my child go to if I had to chose every time. For two reasons: Mostly nursery staff think they are doing us parents a favor by offering a place and second staff shortage; the key worker to child ratio I have seen was less in many nurseries like only 3 teachers for 30 kids and with this disparity 10 kids to 1 teacher they were always exhausted by the end of the day. At laugh and learn I see many faces every day and that gives me a vibe that our kids are not neglected. There is lots of staff. I remember when my elder one had some dietary issues and in one nursery due to staff shortage he was neglected so when I confronted the manager she suggested me to change the nursery because my child needs extra attention there are other kids as well so either I live with that or reconsider my decision to continue. As compare to that horrible experience I can say staff at laugh and learn is very co operative. After all they are also humans they running all day from as early as breakfast clubs until after school hours be kind to the teachers if they err. It’s not easy handling and safeguarding nursery children and expect them to be grinning at you opening doors at you. I know it’s their jobs but we have our good or bad days. I see parents here being so unkind rather than speaking to the manager who is very friendly and supportive you come here and speak negative this shows where’s the problem. Too quick to escalate when one can be given chance to improve. I don’t want people to be mis led by these negative remarks and miss the opportunity to benefit from this wonderful place which is surely a safe and happy place for the children. Staff is enthusiastic and very professional.

This is a great nursery. The staff are super nice and kind. My daughter has not complained once in 3 years. And is always happy and well fed straight after school. I can't thankyou ladies enough for your after school pick up service. I wish you the best. May Allah grant you success in this life and the next.

Picked up my niece and she smelt really bad, I looked at her nappy, she was not cleaned properly at all, a complete lack of care for children’s well-being. This is completely unacceptable. Staff are very unprofessional and have no understanding of confidentiality, they discuss matters openly.

I have been sending my son here since he was 6 months old. He is now 19 months old, so he has been here over a year now. He settled in really well, he has been happy there, he is involved in lots of activities e.g. messy play and water play. The staff send me pictures via whatsapp of all the fun activities he is involved with. The staff are lovely. Every time the girls open the door for us in the morning, we are greeted with a smile on their faces and a warm welcome for my son. The friendly staff put me at ease having my son there all day. Thanks to the service I am able to go to my job for the full day knowing he is safe and well looked after. I have never had a bad experience with the staff. They are always kind and friendly, well trained staff, which makes the world of difference when sending your child to nursery! He also has a dedicated key worker who keeps me up to date and we have occasional parents evenings. The opening hours are excellent, the full day hours allow me to work the full day and pick him up in plenty of time. I also think the nursery fees are really affordable compared to others! The manager is super friendly, whenever I have had a phone call with her, she is super polite and kind. The days are also flexible, so if I need to swap nursery days due to a change in working days, they are very good at accommodating this. The nursery also offers wraparound care which I've applied for my older son when he starts school. There's also a holiday club which allows me to work during school holidays. They always give me a handover on collection about his day. They have been excellent. Thank you so much LaughNLearn.

Was very unsure about sending my child here based on reviews but because it was practical I gave it a shot. I spoke to the manager about concerns regarding comments she really put me at ease with how honest and open she was about reforming the nursery. The staff members work really well with my son, they’ve created a beautiful bond.. he has the biggest smile on his face when seeing his key worker! Can’t thank the ladies enough.
