Little Amber Nursery is dedicated to fostering a stimulating and caring environment where children can flourish, explore, and express their imaginations. Established in September 2016, the day nursery aims to provide a "home from home" atmosphere, allowing children to move freely throughout the setting with continuous support from qualified and friendly staff.

Learning is central to their approach, with a focus on play-based activities both indoors and in their secure outdoor area with shady trees. The curriculum incorporates various enriching experiences such as arts and crafts, storytelling, music, science, numeracy, literacy, and imaginative play, all designed to support children's physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and creative development.

The day nursery also emphasises eco-friendly practices, utilising natural resources and toys, and promotes healthy eating habits through collaboration with Early Start Wellbeing and Nutritious Team, even maintaining a small vegetable garden. They prioritise strong communication with parents through monthly newsletters and regular parents' evenings, ensuring a collaborative approach to each child's learning journey.

Pricing & funding

Fees are invoiced monthly in advance and are due on the first of each month. Full charges apply for sickness and holidays. Government funding for eligible two, three, and four-year-olds is supported.

Good to know

  • A deposit equal to half of the monthly fee is required in advance.
  • One month's written notice is required to refund the deposit when a child leaves.
  • Full fees are charged for holidays and sickness.
  • Payments must be made in full and in advance by the 1st of each month.
  • Late payment incurs a charge of £25.00.
  • Late collection is charged at £15.00 for every 15 minutes.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children who are at risk of falling behind in their development are promptly identified. Staff liaise closely with parents and agree personal targets. Staff monitor children closely to ensure that gaps in their development begin to narrow. The special educational needs and/or disabilities coordinator monitors children's progress and makes timely referrals to other professionals when necessary.

Outdoor space

Children thoroughly enjoy their time in the garden. They exercise and have fresh air as they play with their friends. Children help to maintain the garden by helping the adults to sweep and clear away leaves and enjoy growing fruit and vegetables.

When it comes to choosing the right environment for your child, this nursery has exceeded every expectation we had. From the moment we first stepped inside, we noticed the clean, welcoming spaces that created a sense of comfort and trust. The staff members were consistently warm and friendly, always greeting us with a smile. As parents, it gave us reassurance knowing that our child was surrounded by positivity. For us, this has been much more than just a nursery; it truly feels like a second home. Over the years, we’ve seen our daughter, Sophie, thrive in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Her communication skills have blossomed, and she has made impressive strides in math, writing, and even art. The changes we’ve witnessed in her development have been nothing short of remarkable. We cannot recommend this place enough. If you value your child’s growth, happiness, and well-being, don’t wait to book a visit. I should’ve trusted my instincts when I saw a lack of diversity! I called Amber Nursery to inquire about a viewing, and the woman who answered was incredibly rude and passive-aggressive. When I asked if there was availability, she responded that she was too busy to check, mentioning that she had plenty of other things to do. A simple request for me to call back would have sufficed. She was dismissive, stating offhandedly that they probably didn't have any space for my child. If she was unsure, she could have checked and gotten back to me. Instead, she suggested coming in for a viewing despite the likelihood that there was no availability, wasting my time. Her attitude on the phone was appalling, and I'm glad I decided not to take my child there. I have visited other nurseries and never encountered such unprofessional behavior. Shame on them.
