About this day nursery

Little Cubs Day Nursery, established in 2024 in Birmingham, provides childcare for children aged 2 to 3 years. The nursery operates from 8:30 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, all year round, and has a capacity for 32 children.

The dedicated staff create a welcoming environment where children confidently engage in activities and build strong, trusting relationships. The nursery places a strong emphasis on fostering independence and healthy lifestyles, with daily outings to the local park to encourage physical development and an understanding of road safety.

Leaders are proactive in supporting children's development, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), by providing targeted support, working with parents on assessments, and adapting the curriculum to ensure all children can access learning. They also actively engage with local authority SEND services and utilise funding to provide additional resources, including cooked meals.

The nursery focuses on developing children's language, emotional regulation, and early mathematical skills through thoughtfully planned activities and clear routines. Children learn about community and cultural celebrations, and even cared for nursery pets, which fostered an understanding of life cycles and responsibility.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff complete assessments of children's development with parents on induction and monitor their development using progress checks and a communication and language screening programme, promptly identifying and addressing gaps or delays. Leaders ensure children receive timely, targeted support, proactively seeking advice from other professionals, developing support plans, accessing funding, and guiding parents through the SEND referral process. They also work collaboratively with local authority SEND services to complete assessments for education, health and care plans, providing one-to-one support for those who need it.

Outdoor space

Daily outings to the local park provide opportunities for children to develop their large-muscle skills in the fresh air. Toddlers and older children progressively develop their physical skills as they explore challenges in the garden and local park.

We have had our child at Little Cubs for a while now and it has been a great experience so far. We considered a few different nurseries but Little cubs really stood out, it was a clean, warm and a friendly environment with education at its core but all the fun and activities a nursery should have. The staff are great and my child grew comfortable with them very quickly. They have had lots of activities celebrating various holidays and parties, always keeping parents involved with parent partnerships and an app which keeps us up to date with what the children are doing daily. The best thing for working parents is they are extremely flexible with hours and can accommodate most things they even support with things like potty training. So much more I could say but so far, it has been great. I would definitely recommend to other parents!

Little cubs Day Nursery is the best Nursery for your child to have the best start. The Manger Sara goes above and beyond. She's very polite and professional as well as all the staffs. My daughter has learnt so much in just two terms. She will miss them all as she will be starting reception this September. I would recommend Little cubs Day Nursery to anyone looking for a nursery for their little one. (Layan )
