Little People Day Nursery Goose Green

About this day nursery

Little People Day Nursery Goose Green is in Wigan and provides care for children from birth to four years of age. The day nursery is open all year, from Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 6pm. It offers funded childcare places for eligible children. At its inspection in September 2025, Ofsted rated the provision as Good. The inspector reported that children are happy to arrive and are greeted by nurturing staff who know them well, which helps them to settle quickly.

Leaders plan a curriculum based on children’s interests and individual needs, with a priority on communication and language development. The inspector noted that staff support children to regulate their emotions, develop independence, and build on their physical skills. Parents commented that they receive useful ideas to support their child's learning at home. Ofsted suggested that the nursery should provide more opportunities for children to learn about different cultures and communities, and help children to sustain their focus during play.

Our ethos

Little Explorers Goose Green focuses on a child-centred approach, using the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. They emphasise outdoor learning and aim to foster a welcoming, calm, and enriching environment that builds children's confidence, independence, and resilience.

What it's like

Children arrive at nursery happily and are warmly greeted by nurturing staff, who know them well and support them to follow familiar routines. This welcoming atmosphere helps children settle quickly and begin their day. Leaders plan an ambitious curriculum based on children's interests and individual needs, and staff build on what children already know and can do through meaningful and engaging activities.
