Maggie's Day Nursery in Polegate is a large pre-school nursery catering to children aged 3 months to 5 years. Situated in a spacious, detached building, the day nursery provides a modern, homely atmosphere with soft carpets, comfortable furnishings, and dedicated quiet spaces.

A chef prepares meals from scratch daily using fresh, seasonal ingredients in a fully operational kitchen. The nursery boasts a wonderful garden with raised beds where children can engage in planting and picking food, alongside ample outdoor space for various activities.

Located in a residential area, it benefits from nearby natural beauty spots, offering day trip opportunities to the local beach and country parks. CCTV throughout the building provides parents with additional peace of mind.

The nursery uses an interactive online learning journal, allowing parents to view their child's daily progress, share photos, and communicate directly with key workers. All staff are either Level 3 qualified in Childcare or are working towards their qualifications, supported by experienced colleagues.

The nursery operates 51 weeks a year, Monday to Friday, closing only for Bank Holidays and the first week of August. Core opening hours are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, with extended hours available at an additional charge.

Children receive breakfast, lunch, and tea, with healthy snacks and fresh drinks provided throughout the day. The curriculum is delivered in line with the EYFS framework, focusing on high-quality teaching, care, and engaging activities to foster confident and enthusiastic learners.

They celebrate cultural heritage, host yearly sports days, Christmas plays, and offer free multi-sports and music classes.

They make expected progress in all areas of their learning. Children enjoy the wide range of activities staff provide, which reflect the 7 areas of learning. All staff know the children, their abilities and next steps well. Children manage their feelings effectively. They respond positively to the high expectations of staff, fully understanding the routines of the nursery. This helps all children to develop a sense of belonging.

Pricing & funding

The nursery charges a non-refundable registration fee of £50 and requires a £100 deposit. A minimum booking of two days per week is mandatory. Late collection incurs a charge of £5 for the first five minutes and an additional £5 for every subsequent five minutes. For children attending with 30 hours funding for 4 or 5 days a week, there is an additional weekly charge of £109, which includes meals. For other funded-only children, lunch and snacks are £3.50 per day.
