How they support every child

SEND provision

Newly employed staff, trained to coordinate the approach for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and others with barriers to their learning, are a real benefit to this nursery. They have initiated a review of all the children's needs, met with families and liaised with external agencies to provide a collaborative way forward. Clear targets are set in partnership with parents and key persons, and these are reviewed regularly. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those with other barriers to their learning benefit from inclusive practice and adaptations to activities. Staff are sensitive to their needs, for example, knowing that some children struggle with transitions or to join in with group activities. The use of picture timelines and picture communication cards helps children to understand and prepare for what is happening next. Leaders monitor the use of additional funding, and this is used appropriately to benefit children.

Outdoor space

Children enjoy playing outside every day in the fresh air, running, jumping, climbing, and balancing, which helps them build coordination and strength. The outdoor environment is generally well planned and enables children who prefer to learn and play outside to benefit from activities covering all areas of learning.

EAL / language support

Children experiencing barriers to their learning, including those with English as an additional language, continue to make progress with a consistent and collaborative approach to monitoring their development and support from external agencies.

My daughter attended this nursery for 18 months, 2 days a week. She settled in well and she formed some lovely friendships. The staff are really lovely. There was a turnover of staff due to maternity leave and room lead changes, and this cannot be helped. The outdoor space is good, no grass, so they do get muddy but my daughter loved this! And they have lots to play with. The nursery also do some theme weeks, which are interactive for them. My main issue is their communication. I always got a reply if it was to do with sickness, payments or anything that benefitted them (like picking kids up early due to illness etc). There have been quite a few times where I enquired about something and never had a call back or email responded to. What really annoyed me before she left is they asked for money for graduation photos, which I gave, and I still to this day don’t have the photos (despite contacting them twice). Although I know the money they request goes into the nursery it is annoying (especially as it was the grandparents that paid for them not me). They also regularly would have a nursery closure with very little notice, and as working parent this isn’t really helpful. If I have another child I would be hesitant to send them there just because the communication needs to be a lot better.

Maple Vue is a wonderful nursery, I can’t speak highly enough of it! My little boy has just graduated from here, Lisa and the team are all so lovely, caring and my little boy have thrived under their guidance. He always came home chatting about what they have done, friends that he had made, activities they did in the garden etc. My little girl is in The Hive with Phoenix and the team, have cared for her since she was a baby and they have been amazing with her. I know that she is so happy going into nursery where she gets the attention, care and guidance to help her learn and develop. They have fantastic activities that kept her engaged and I love getting all her little crafts and painting that she makes! This nursery really is brilliant and I’m truly thankful for how caring and amazing all of the team are! They are all absolute stars!

My daughter has been going here since she was 12 months old - starting off as one day a week and recently up to 3. She is 23 months old now and in the few weeks she has been going more frequently, she has learnt all sorts of new exciting skills which is just amazing to see. The staff look after her like their own and i look forward to sending her to nursery while i go to work. I know she is in safe hands and they are just fantastic. Thank you to everyone at Maple Vue for helping my daughter flourish into the funny, smart girl she is today!
