About this early years setting

Montessori by Busy Bees Alderley Day Nursery in Macclesfield is a childcare setting on non-domestic premises, catering for children aged 0 to 4. The nursery focuses on supporting children's development, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and those who speak English as an additional language (EAL), ensuring progress across all areas of learning.

The curriculum is designed to meet individual needs, with a strong emphasis on language and communication skills from infancy. The setting provides a welcoming environment, encouraging independence and positive behaviour through well-established routines and staff support.

While the nursery has strong partnerships with parents, sharing home-learning ideas and involving them in development through a parent committee, it is currently addressing areas related to staff deployment, hygiene practices, and ensuring consistent staff understanding of children's individual needs. Leaders are committed to continuous improvement, with plans in place to enhance staff training and ensure all policies are implemented effectively to safeguard children's welfare and promote optimal learning experiences.

What it's like

Children arrive happy and settle quickly, greeted by the friendly staff team members, who encourage them to engage in play. Leaders and staff plan their curriculum to meet the needs of all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and children who may face barriers to their learning, such as those who speak English as an additional language. There is a strong focus on language and communication skills. This helps to prepare children to become ready for school. Children engage in an array of back-and-forth interactions with staff and enjoy opportunities to promote their independence skills from when they start at the nursery. Babies learn to feed themselves and drink from open cups, and toddlers pour their own drinks and put on their own coats. Older children self-serve meals, pour their own drinks and learn to get changed into their sports kits. This helps children to master skills they will need when they transition to school. The supervision of children is not always effective, with staff deployment issues impacting safety and vigilance, particularly during mealtimes and outdoor play.

Amazing nursery with kind, caring and warm staff. I’ve been so happy with the care my little boy has had whilst being here. He’s learnt so much and loves his time here, all staff are very open and friendly, even staff in the older classes know my little boys name and are always engaging and interested in him. It has such a lovely family run feel to the nursery. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for care for their little bundles of joy.

We couldn’t be happier with Busy Bees Montessori. From the moment we joined, the warmth and professionalism of the teachers and management team have been outstanding. The staff are not only caring and nurturing but also highly skilled in creating a structured and stimulating environment where children truly thrive. The Montessori approach is delivered beautifully here, with a perfect balance of independence, learning, and play. The structure of the day is well thought out, and it’s clear how much effort goes into making sure each child feels supported, encouraged, and valued. Communication with parents is also excellent, with regular updates that really show how much the team cares. The management team are approachable and organised, and it gives us great peace of mind knowing our child is in such capable hands. We are so grateful to the teachers and staff for providing such a safe, structured, and inspiring environment. Highly recommend to any parents looking for a nursery that goes above and beyond in every way!

We’ve had such a positive experience during our settling sessions at Busy Bees Alderley Nursery. The staff were incredibly welcoming and sensitive to our children's needs from day one. They took the time to build trust at our child’s pace, which really helped us feel confident leaving them in safe hands. The management team is outstanding, clear communication, very responsive, and always available to answer any questions or offer reassurance. You can tell they genuinely care about each family and run the nursery with a great balance of professionalism and warmth.

My two daughters attend this nursery, one in Prep and the other in the Toddler room. The staff are brilliant, kind, compassionate, patient and professional. What’s important to me is that they know each of my children as individuals, they know their needs, development areas and personality. Leaving your most precious people at nursery each day can be tough, the staff and setting at Alderley make this so much easier. They are looked after so well - I receive updates regularly via an app, the range of learning and activities is really impressive and outside space is unmatched by any other setting in the surrounding areas. A special thanks to Teacher Emma, Carrie, Courtney, Monica and Chef David. My children love all the engagement you provide on a daily basis. Sylvia and Lauren, thanks for all your efforts to making the nursery a wonderful place to be again.
