About this day nursery

Mossley Hill Childcare, situated near Liverpool's Sefton Park in a Grade I listed gatehouse, offers high-quality childcare for children aged three months to five years. Established in 2007, the nursery provides a nurturing environment focused on developing social skills, well-being, and physical development through outdoor learning activities, leveraging its unique location within the magnificent 200-acre green space.

The nursery offers full-day and half-day sessions year-round, closing only for Bank Holidays, Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day. Under new management since September 2024, Mossley Hill Childcare is currently undergoing refurbishment and technology upgrades, including the implementation of digital learning journals, to enhance communication with parents regarding their child's progress.

The experienced team is dedicated to fostering confidence, emotional well-being, and a love for learning through play, ensuring children are well-prepared for their transition to school. The nursery was rated 'GOOD' by Ofsted in January 2023.

SEND provision

The well-thought-out curriculum supports all children to move towards their current learning goals, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The special educational needs coordinator is passionate about her role and committed to helping children with SEND achieve their learning goals, supporting all staff to provide consistent approaches and teaching that meets individual needs. Any gaps in children's development are swiftly identified and targeted, and supportive plans are put in place.

Outdoor space

The provider has made changes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a strong focus on outdoor play and learning. Children embrace this, animatedly talking to staff about things they hear and see, and are keen to practise drawing skills and name shapes with ease as they trace with chalks on the pavement.
