My Little Explorers Forest Nursery, established in 2022, is a childcare setting located in Romsey. Open Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm, for 50 weeks of the year, it provides an all-year provision for children aged 1 to 4 years.
The nursery embraces a highly stimulating forest school ethos, immersing children in the natural world through a broad range of exciting outdoor activities. Babies and toddlers are taught to observe seasonal changes, while older children spend their days closely supervised in nearby woodland.
Specialist staff teach children to safely use real tools with forest materials, fostering an interest in nature and quickly building their confidence in exploration. The nursery places a strong emphasis on physical development, encouraging children to explore the forest floor, use rakes, and climb trees.
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are well-supported, forming strong attachments with adults, which helps to improve their confidence and communication. Staff have recently implemented a new system for recording children's individual needs to enhance the monitoring of those requiring additional support.
My Little Explorers Forest Nursery fosters excellent behaviour among children, who learn to manage risk well, for example, by helping with daily risk assessments and understanding woodland trail safety.

I have nothing but praise for this fantastic nursery. My daughter has gone from strength to strength since she started at My Little Explorers. She comes home absolutely buzzing, has had the most amazing opportunities and her confidence has skyrocketed. The grounds are beautiful and there is so much for children across the age range. The staff are incredible and my youngest is excited to start after hearing lots from her sister.
Read on GoogleOur child commenced attending this nursery upon reaching the age of three. This decision proved to be highly advantageous. He consistently returns home in a state of contentment and exhaustion. We have observed a remarkable transformation in his conduct, with all aspects improving at My Little Explorers. Our child has experienced comprehensive skill development, resulting in enhanced self-assurance in both individual and social settings. The nursery team consistently demonstrates a welcoming attitude and stands ready to provide comprehensive information and address any inquiries we may have. We wholeheartedly recommend this nursery.
Read on GoogleMy son started the nursery just after he turned 2. It is a unique and wonderful setting offering children the amazing opportunity to learn and be themselves amongst nature. I have always felt he and myself have been fully supported as he has gone through different developmental phases. Staff are kind and knowledgeable, ensuring the best possible care for all the children at the setting. My son has come a long way since the beginning and he absolutely loves coming into the forest school at both sites. He loves the staff and considers them all 'his friends'. They encourage his learning, meet his needs, guide him to share and be kind, and they treat him as they would their own - which is all any parent could ask for when entrusting the care of their child to another. The setting is like one big family - staff, children and parents.
Read on GoogleWe’ve been so very lucky to have been with MLE since they opened and attended the Stay and Play sessions before this - I am full of admiration of Sam’s work and the ethos of MLE. I have had experience of another outdoorsy nursery in the area and MLE far surpasses this one - both with its care and attentiveness and also its safety, activities and grounds. This setting is a truly superb environment for young children to spend their early years and my two have thrived there. With such caring and invested staff members, I have always felt fully confident that they are very well looked after. Each of the age related groups has excellent activities to develop their skills and learning and I am regularly taught all about nature and fire safety and will ask to do our own forest school related activities at home. My children love being outside and have grown hugely in confidence since being at MLE. My eldest particularly enjoyed her beach day too. The baby and toddler room have been fully supportive of sleep patterns and potty training, helping again to support personal development. This is such a wonderful setting that encourages risk taking, creativity and, at the same time, is fully nurturing and supportive. As a side note, I would disagree with the comment about the insensitivity of the parent traffic along the road; everyone does what they can to help each other pass and does so with a wave and a thank you.
Read on GoogleOur eldest has been with MLE since it opened and she absolutely loves it! It is such a happy place to be with incredibly passionate and caring staff. The activities they organise are varied and imaginative, with different themes every week, all inspired by nature and the beautiful forest setting. Our daughter comes home buzzing from her adventures in “the big woods” and her confidence has come on leaps and bounds. We are so glad we have been able to give her this opportunity and look forward to our youngest joining the MLE family next year.
