About this day nursery

Naturally Learning Charlestown provides an outstanding forest school experience for children aged 0-5 within the historic port of Charlestown. The nursery is based in a beautiful granite building with spacious open-plan play areas across two floors, alongside a charming courtyard garden and adjoining woodland for outdoor learning.

For the youngest children, a sensory-rich baby space with stimulating lights and calming essential oils is available. Toddlers aged 2-3 years old can explore a specifically designed space offering both security and challenges.

The preschool caters to 3-5-year-olds with an alternative outdoor forest school, allowing them to experience the natural world and develop essential life skills. The nursery also benefits from its proximity to the beach, integrating award-winning beach school sessions into its curriculum for all children.

The ethos prioritises nurturing each child holistically, focusing on physical, emotional, social, and intellectual well-being. Freshly prepared, seasonal, home-cooked meals are provided, promoting healthy eating habits and brain development.

The environment encourages free movement and risky play to develop core strength, motor skills, and body awareness, vital for school readiness. Additionally, peaceful areas are available for rest and reflection, with sleep routines tailored to individual children in partnership with families.

A child-led approach to education, project-based learning, and a seasonal curriculum scaffold children’s learning through their interests, fostering a love for the natural world and promoting sustainability.
