Newtown Preschool and ABC Club, established in 2011, provides a nurturing, term-time setting for children aged 2 to 11 years. Rated 'Good' by Ofsted following its latest inspection on 31 January 2025, the nursery implements a curriculum that builds on what children already know and can do, with a strong focus on developing communication skills.
Staff engage younger children with exciting stories and support older children in creating their own imaginative narratives. The setting also plans activities to develop coordination and physical skills essential for writing.
Children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), make good progress due to the inclusive environment and staff working in partnership with external agencies to provide tailored support. The curriculum also focuses on children learning to keep themselves healthy and safe, with routines that include handwashing after outdoor play.
Outdoor learning encourages physical development, with younger children mimicking animals and older ones creating climbing frames from crates. Parents commend the bespoke settling-in processes and the regular communication from staff.

Children learn to keep themselves healthy and safe. They understand they need to wash their hands to remove germs after playing outside. Staff encourage younger children to crawl and pretend to be animals, and outdoors, older children can jump and make climbing frames out of crates.

Newtown Preschool and ABC Club registered in 2011. The pre-school employs nine members of childcare staff, all holding appropriate early years qualifications at level 3 or above. The pre-school opens from Monday to Friday, term time only, from 7.45am to 6pm, providing funded early education for two-, three- and four-year-old children.
