About this day nursery

Norfolk House Nursery operates across three distinct locations in Birmingham, including two in Edgbaston and one in Moseley, providing early education and care for children aged 3 to 11. The nursery is committed to giving each child the best possible start in life, focusing on their individual talents, interests, and needs.

Their philosophy revolves around understanding each child's uniqueness to tailor their approach and maximise development. This personalised method extends to their admissions process, which encourages prospective families to tour the facilities with the Headmistress to experience the family-like atmosphere firsthand.

Following the tour, children are invited to spend two days in their prospective class, engaging with peers and completing age-appropriate assessments. This process ensures that children are comfortable and confident when joining and will benefit from the school's learning programme.

Norfolk House Nursery is part of Norfolk House School, which is an independent coeducational school aiming to impart a first-class academic education alongside values, interests, and skills necessary for pupils to lead fulfilling lives and contribute to society. The school prides itself on its small, familial environment where pupils consistently achieve strong examination results for local grammar and independent schools.

Our ethos

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are extremely well supported. Staff are very astute at recognising when a child may need further help or support. They complete observations and reports which are shared with parents, and a plan is agreed and put in place to support the child, ensuring additional help is accessed very early.

Outdoor space

Children's love for the outdoors is promoted at every opportunity. All children spend lots of time in the nursery's amazing garden. Older children gain hands-on experience using tools such as hammers and saws at the forest school sessions.

My daughter has been attending the nursery since April 2019. I have always been very happy with the level of care she receives. The staff are wonderful, they genuinely care about all the children. The nursery has a very kind and gentle feel to it. The indoor/outdoor facilities are great. Plenty of space for the children to run around and explore, which is a change from the usual tiny private nurseries. I would highly recommend Norfolk House.

We have had an amazing experience with both our daughters at Norfolk House Nursery. Our eldest is 9 and was there from a baby till she went to primary school and our youngest is 2 and is in the toddler room and is really enjoying herself. The staff are all really kind and caring and go out of their way for the children. The food is all freshly cooked with a varied menu. At parents evening we even got to sample some of the dishes and noted how healthy and tasty they were. They really encourage the children to develop their potential, giving them so much opportunity for art and crafts, singing and for physical and social development. They have been brilliant encouraging my little one with toilet training.

We now have both our children at this nursery, the eldest has been there for nearly 3 years now. They have both settled in wonderfully. The staff are wonderfully caring. The calendar is well thought out, and there are plenty of extra curricular activities. The food seems healthy, varied and enjoyed by the children. If there are problems then staff are quick to try and fix them. We are really happy we chose this nursery for our children.

My son loves going to the nursery, staff are really friendly. 1st day, he came back home with a smile and ever since then he goes happily to the nursery. I love that they keep you updated on baby's progress every day and what food he eats, the staff helped a lot during the weaning process. Always have various activities on during the week.
