About this day nursery

Old School Day Nursery, established in 1989, provides a stimulating environment for children to learn and grow, valuing each child as an individual. Nestled in a historic Victorian infant school, the nursery boasts four unique indoor spaces designed to offer enriching experiences.

The outdoor area is extensive, featuring large tree coverage for all-weather play, a fire pit, a dedicated forest school room, an art and music station, a large sandpit, a mud kitchen, a water station, and a growing garden. The adjacent play park further enhances outdoor activities.

The nursery frequently utilises local woodlands and natural areas for its weekly Forest School programme, welcoming children from 18 months, with younger children able to attend Ascot Day Nursery before transitioning to Old School at two years old.

How they support every child

SEND provision

All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), make rapid progress from their starting points. Staff offer exceptional support for children with SEND, providing high-quality intervention and benefiting from working in small groups and one-to-one sessions, such as in dedicated sensory and physical playrooms.

Outdoor space

Children display high levels of involvement in exploring outdoors. They move confidently in the outdoor sandpit, exploring a vast range of opportunities. Children manage risks exceptionally well. They help each other to look for dangers, explaining that they need to look on the ground before jumping down, so they do not 'squash' their friends.
