About this day nursery

Peacock Pre-school, part of the Naval Under Fives charitable organisation, is dedicated to providing a nurturing, home-from-home learning environment for children aged two years to school age. The pre-school, located in Drayton, accommodates up to sixteen children daily and operates during term time.

Emphasising creativity, curiosity, and individual development, Peacock Pre-school focuses on enabling each child to learn and grow through play, fostering their well-being and future success. The setting promotes a free-flow play approach, allowing children to engage in learning tailored to their specific needs.

A keyperson system is in place to ensure children feel safe and secure, and their learning journeys are meticulously recorded for parents to share and comment on. The pre-school prides itself on its strong relationships with families, including those from armed forces personnel, understanding the unique challenges some may face due to forced separation.

The experienced and fully qualified staff, all first-aid trained, are committed to delivering a broad, balanced, and challenging curriculum that encourages exploration, investigation, and a love for learning.

What it's like

Pricing & funding

Fees are charged at an hourly rate based on age bands for non-funded hours or families not eligible for funding. Early Years Funding is accepted between 9.00am and 3.00pm. Weekly charges apply for consumables and voluntary snack contributions, and parents must provide a packed lunch.

What it's like to attend

How they support every child

SEND provision

The manager and special educational needs coordinator together form a high-functioning team, supported by an experienced and hands-on operations manager. They employ reflective practice to assess provision in a constant drive to improve outcomes for children through training and peer support. Support staff unfamiliar with the setting are given the knowledge they need to work effectively with all children very quickly.

Outdoor space

Children make full use of the outdoor area. They practise climbing with ropes and carefully navigate steps with railings. Children are constantly curious about their surroundings, investigating the natural world and bringing discoveries to adults for further exploration.
