What it's like to attend

Children feel safe and secure, greeting their key person with warmth and settling quickly into play. Staff are kind and know the children well, leading to an ambitious curriculum where all children make good progress in physical development, from babies crawling to pre-schoolers developing hand-eye coordination.

Inspector highlights

  • Children are independent, with younger babies choosing props for songs and older babies learning to feed themselves. Toddlers take off coats and wipe noses, while pre-schoolers tidy up to a "tidy up song".
  • Pre-school-age children show determination to solve problems, such as washing shells down guttering, and learn about water pressure.
  • Staff effectively support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) by working with external agencies and using strategies like singing instructions to aid communication and re-engagement.
  • Leaders support staff in accessing ongoing professional development and regular training, including for the SENDCo, and have reduced paperwork to allow more time with children.
  • The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with an open and positive culture that prioritises children's interests.

Areas to develop

  • 1develop how staff support older babies' and toddlers' communication and language skills, to give them enough time to understand and answer questions
  • 2organise daily routines to support pre-school-aged children's personal, social and emotional development and promote their well-being.
