About this day nursery

Plympton St Maurice Childcare Centre offers high-quality, affordable childcare with an emphasis on nurturing each child individually. The centre provides a stimulating environment focused on fun and daily learning, with sessions designed to encourage children to choose from various activities and participate in adult-led group activities.

Outdoor play is a key component, promoting health, physical development, and environmental awareness. The facility is situated within the expansive grounds of Plympton St Maurice Primary School, fostering strong ties with the school community.

It features two self-contained units linked by a conservatory corridor, catering to babies (3 months to 2 years), toddlers (2-3 years), and pre-schoolers (3-5 years). Each unit has dedicated play areas, with the baby unit including a sensory area and sleep room, and the toddler unit featuring a small world area, messy area, and book corner.

The pre-school has its own large play area, kitchen, and toilets. An enclosed outdoor play area is accessible to all age groups, complemented by a separate discovery garden.

The centre operates a key-person approach to ensure each child's needs and interests are met, aiding in their settlement and engagement with activities. They also offer "Free Flow" for pre-school children, allowing them to choose between indoor and outdoor play.

Daily activities include sensory play, learning through discovery, creative minds, heuristic play, messy play, BLAST, physical exploration, Moo Music, French lessons, Makaton, and Wake Up & Shake Up. The centre is open for 51 weeks a year, offering a playscheme during school holidays, with closures during the Christmas and New Year week and a day for staff training/cleaning.
