Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those who face other barriers to learning communicate their needs by pointing to pictures, using signs, and saying words. Leaders prioritise meeting the needs of all children, including those with SEND, ensuring they are in suitable rooms with appropriate practitioners, liaising with parents, and organising group sizes to accommodate their needs. They identify and support children with SEND and those who may face other barriers to learning so that they achieve well from their starting points, liaising with the local authority and outside agencies.
Children play outside, where they develop gross motor skills by riding scooters, bikes, and tricycles, and climbing and balancing. They also build with large construction, use a drinks station, and create in the mud kitchen, digging for leaves and herbs to use in play dough. This outdoor play ignites curiosity, increases physical dexterity, and develops mathematical thinking, communication, and language skills.
