About this day nursery

Sarah's Montessori Day Nursery, located in Westcliff-on-Sea near Chalkwell Beach, offers an authentic Montessori education for babies, toddlers, and preschool children. Housed in a beautiful heritage building that was formerly Alleyn Court Preparatory school, the nursery provides stunning classrooms and large outdoor spaces with views of the estuary.

The nursery operates 50 weeks a year, Monday to Friday, aiming to provide flexibility and consistency for working parents. Emphasising a philosophy rooted in family, community, and Montessori principles, the nursery's curriculum focuses on five key areas: Practical Life, Language, Mathematics, Sensorial, and Cultural & Factual.

With a team of dedicated, Montessori-trained educators, the nursery fosters confidence, independence, and joy in children, encouraging them to explore and learn through everyday experiences and specially designed Montessori materials. Sarah's Montessori is part of a larger Montessori family, established by Sarah Drummond in 2004, and integrates nutritionist-designed meals and an active engagement with the local culture.

Our ethos

Following the philosophy and method of Maria Montessori with trained educators, helping children stop, absorb the world around them, appreciate it and learn from it. We believe in being part of the local culture, ensuring your children grow up rooted in their sense of self, family, and community.
