See-Saw Pre-School Playgroup, registered in 1983, operates from St. Josephs RC Primary School in Moreton Road, Wirral. This long-established setting provides a calm and secure environment where children aged 2 to 4 years feel safe and understood.
The pre-school has a "Good" Ofsted rating, a testament to its commitment to quality education, evident in its broad and balanced curriculum that is ambitious for all children. The pre-school accepts funded placements for two-, three- and four-year-olds and opens during term time from 8:45 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
With 20 children currently on roll and a maximum capacity for 25, the playgroup ensures a supportive and nurturing atmosphere. The team of four qualified childcare staff prioritises children's well-being and development, adapting their teaching to individually support each child, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
They actively promote social skills, independence, and an eagerness to learn, ensuring children are well-prepared for their next stage of learning.

They are consistent with their approach to behaviour management, which is particularly important for new, younger children. Staff remind children about the importance of sharing, turn taking and friendly behaviour. This helps children to develop good social skills and understand what is expected of them.

Inclusion & environment
Staff adapt the environment and their teaching to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They create smaller spaces within the room to support children who need a quieter area. For children with SEND staff use objects of reference, such as water bottles and snacks, to help them understand there is a change in routine. Support for children with SEND is well embedded. Staff monitor children's development closely and complete additional screening on their communication and language development. Any gaps in learning are addressed swiftly and targeted support is implemented. Timely referrals to outside agencies are made. This means children with SEND receive the support they need to make progress from their individual starting points.
