The nursery maintains a strong focus on individual development, aligning its programme with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) while respecting each child's unique interests. Situated centrally in Chichester, the nursery prides itself on its homely setting and Catholic ethos, which embraces all faiths.
With an experienced and compassionate team of early years professionals, St Richard's accommodates up to 28 children per session, fostering a supportive atmosphere where children feel safe and valued.
Our ethos
At St Richard's Nursery, our mission is to provide a warm and nurturing environment where all children feel safe and valued. Our unique nursery respects the individuality of every child. The programme for development is based on the EYFS and is designed to acknowledge each child's interests and to be led by them in their learning. It is through child led play and creative activities, children at St Richard's reach their potential and become confident and curious about the world. Our setting is central to Chichester and offers a homely environment in which we pride ourselves. We are a Catholic nursery and respect all faiths and religions. Children flow freely between the spacious natural garden and the nursery room, enabling the curriculum to be supported both inside and out, no matter the weather!

Inclusion & environment
The curriculum is well designed to meet children's needs, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Staff work in partnership with parents and other professionals to ensure that information is regularly shared, reviewed and updated. Staff assess children's needs well and know when to make referrals to other agencies. Leaders use additional funding appropriately to benefit those children who need it the most.
Children enjoy the outdoor learning environment and have many opportunities to develop their physical skills. For example, children enjoy swinging and spinning from a tree swing and whizzing down a slide.
