Stables Daycare, located in Hildenborough, Tonbridge, has been providing childcare since 2023 for children aged 0-4 years. Open all year round, Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 18:00, the nursery offers a warm and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to explore and develop their independence.
The curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with a strong emphasis on learning through play. Children benefit from extensive outdoor learning opportunities, including a mud area for creative play and bicycles to develop balance and coordination.
The setting is committed to inclusivity, with staff identifying individual needs early and making thoughtful adaptations for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), allowing all to participate fully. The Ofsted inspection report of February 2026 highlights the positive and welcoming atmosphere cultivated by leaders, and the effective care provided by staff that meets individual needs.
While the nursery excels in many areas, leaders are working to ensure consistent implementation of targeted language strategies across all rooms to further support communication and language development for all children.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are fully included. Staff identify children's needs early and work closely with families and external partners, making thoughtful adaptations so that all children can take part in activities. These adjustments help children to feel safe, valued and able to join in with their peers.
Children benefit from outdoor learning that promotes confidence and independence. They explore the mud area, mixing water, sticks and leaves, and ride bicycles, developing balance and coordination. Children show sustained interest in the extensive outdoor environment, with staff building on children's interests, such as chalking characters or mixing mud potions.
While staff support children's communication well overall, targeted language strategies are not yet used consistently across the provision. This means some children do not always get the focused language support they need to develop their language skills.
I was very nervous moving my 3 year old to a new preschool, but he had outgrown his surroundings at his previous one and I was desperate for him to have more outdoors experience. My son took a few weeks to settle and was understandably very nervous. But the team were so wonderful with him, and the experience of forest school is just incredible. Hot chocolate around camp fires and fishing with nets in ponds. There are parties, treasure hunts, cake and ice cream. My son has made so many new friends and he absolutely loves it. It was the best decision we could have made.
