About this day nursery

Stainsby Neighbourhood Nursery, established in 2004, provides all-year childcare from 7:45 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Serving children from birth to 8 years old, the nursery maintains a positive and cheery atmosphere where staff prioritise children's well-being and happiness.

Children are greeted warmly by a familiar team, showing a strong sense of belonging and enthusiasm for learning. Leaders hold high aspirations for every child, offering a diverse range of stimulating activities that support overall development.

The curriculum is broad and varied, delivered by staff with strong knowledge of early childhood development, ensuring clear learning objectives at each stage of a child's pre-school education. The nursery excels in supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), with sharply focused teaching plans that contribute to their excellent progress.

The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) actively ensures children with SEND are well-supported. Outdoor learning is a valued part of the provision; babies explore items from the garden, and toddlers develop balance and coordination on wheeled toys.

Staff input is highly valued, contributing to the development of the garden and extending learning opportunities for children who prefer to learn outdoors. Children demonstrate very good language and communication skills, which is a noted strength in the teaching approach.

The nursery also fosters good behaviour, encouraging children to consider the needs of others, learn about community values, and celebrate diverse cultures, all contributing to a nurturing and inclusive environment.
