Tender Years Day Nursery Bolton, established in 2023, provides childcare for children aged 0-4 years. Operating from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, the nursery is committed to offering a warm and welcoming environment where children can thrive.
The setting is dedicated to supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), offering tailored support and a sensory room for quieter, focused learning. Outdoor play is highly valued, with a stimulating environment featuring a racetrack, balancing planks, and a mud area to encourage physical confidence and well-being.
Leaders at the nursery are focused on continuous improvement, with a clear vision to enhance the quality of staff practice and children's experiences. They work closely with families and external professionals to ensure children receive the support they need from the start, demonstrating flexibility with session times to enhance attendance.
Despite significant improvements, the nursery is working to refine mealtimes and story sessions to further enhance engagement and learning opportunities for all children.
What it's like
Children thrive in this warm and welcoming setting. Even very new babies settle quickly and form secure attachments with their key person. Staff know each child's starting points. They use this knowledge to plan a varied curriculum that helps all children make secure progress, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Children are confident and independent. They welcome visitors and share their achievements with pride, such as showing their artwork. Children follow routines that keep them safe, such as using the stairs carefully and counting their peers during transit times.
The nursery offers half-day sessions from 8am to 1pm or 1pm to 6pm, and full-day sessions from 8am to 6pm. Fees are structured around the number of half or full days booked, with discounted rates for multiple days. Additional fees apply for extra hours, late pick-ups, and late payments.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities make appropriate progress. For example, staff provide children with support to strengthen their legs, and some children who have found it difficult to walk eventually become steady on their feet. Leaders ensure that children with special educational needs and/or disabilities access the skills and knowledge they need, including through the provision of a sensory room, which allows them to work in smaller and quieter groups where staff can focus closely on their individual needs. Leaders ensure that staff are well trained to identify children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) or who face barriers to learning at the earliest opportunity and implement support plans effectively so that children receive the help they need from the start.
Leaders have created a stimulating outdoor environment that children are eager to explore. Children develop physical confidence as they ride bicycles around the racetrack, balance carefully on planks and dig in the mud area. These opportunities contribute positively to children's physical health and wellbeing.
We love Tender Years! Our girls run in as soon as they realise they are going to nursery. The updates on the activities they do are brilliant, and the girls in the Bluebell Room are lovely! Shout out to Millie, Rabia and Chloe. Extremely safe and knowledgeable team. Couldn't be happier with the twins attending.
Read on GoogleI had a very disappointing experience with Tender Years Day Nursery. Initially, I was keen to place my daughter here because I believed I could trust the manager and the nursery’s approach. However, after promptly confirming a spot for my child, I was informed it had been given to another family. The lack of transparency and fairness in the admissions process is concerning, and it made me question their commitment to clear communication with parents. The way a nursery treats parents is often a reflection of how they care for children. If they can’t handle basic communication and fairness with prospective parents, it raises concerns about their approach to child care. Additionally, during my visit, I observed children in the learning room watching YouTube videos instead of engaging in more educational activities. The manager acknowledged this wasn’t ideal. This lack of attention to the children’s activities further reinforced my doubts about their commitment to proper child development. Given these experiences, especially the emails with Rachel I can no longer trust this nursery with my daughter’s care, and I would strongly caution other parents to consider these issues before making a decision.
