The DEN Club Egginton

About this day nursery

Egginton Primary School, located in Derby (DE65 6HP), offers a primary education setting rather than a standalone nursery. Admissions are handled through Derbyshire County Council Education Authority, and prospective parents can contact the school directly to arrange a visit with the Headteacher.

The school, while small with an average of 70 children on roll, often has places available across all year groups and welcomes children joining part-way through the academic year. Priority for admissions is given to children living within the Egginton Parish, those with siblings already attending, and parents who have specifically requested a place.

The school also provides before and after-school care services through a third-party provider, Active Bodies Ltd. This wraparound care aims to offer a safe and welcoming environment where children can engage in activities, promote independence, and build friendships. Active Bodies Ltd focuses on encouraging active participation while respecting a child's choice regarding activities.

Parents can enrol their children for this service directly through the Active Bodies Ltd website or contact the school for more information on how the service operates for their pupils.

Our ethos

Active Bodies Ltd, who provide the before and after-school care, state their main aim is "to provide a Before and After-School care service in a safe and welcoming environment where we promote independence and encourage a free flow of choosing whilst supporting a child's interests." They also stress "the importance of encouraging activities and being active, however, no child needs to do an activity they do not wish to do, as our staff believe in a child's choice." They encourage "an environment in which all children are able to establish new friendships with confidence and build on positive relationships, with their self- identity being formed from socially engaging with friends and peers in a relaxed environment."
