The Den Nursery is a family-run establishment committed to delivering high-quality early childhood education within a nurturing and secure environment. Catering to children aged 1-5 years, the nursery adopts a holistic approach, integrating nature into its curriculum to encourage learning, play, and development.
The nursery boasts passionate and skilled practitioners, some of whom are Early Years Teacher (EYT) Level trained, and provides quality-curated equipment to create a relaxed setting. They focus on assisting children in developing confidence, coordination, and early social skills through purposeful play, routines, and daily outdoor learning, including Forest School elements.
The Den Nursery also emphasises strong parent partnerships and community engagement, welcoming families to forest school sessions and summer fun days. They aim to prepare children for school by fostering communication, early literacy and numeracy, resilience, and a love for learning.
In addition to their main nursery, they also offer a Forest School in Hugglescote and a holiday club for school-aged children up to 11 years old.

Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection
Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the nursery. They comment that staff offer supportive advice and feedback about their children's development.
Parents attribute children's social development and their growing confidence to the experiences they have at the nursery.
They are confident that their children are safe and well cared for.
Inclusion & environment
Staff work well with parents of children who speak English as an additional language and with external agencies, such as speech and language therapists, to develop appropriate plans to support children's learning.
Staff understand that children have different home experiences and that some may not have access to outside spaces or use community resources such as the library. Therefore, they plan for children to play outside every day and arrange regular visits to the local park and library. Outdoors, children practise balancing and learn how to do jumping jacks and lunges.
Great Pre-School for young children. Very friendly approachable and polite staff. Has quite a spacious play hall with plenty to do for the kids. I have had two of my children attend this nursery over the last seven years I believe. My daughter loved attending and now my youngest is enjoying his time there. They keep you updated regularly through their app or through parents evenings or just verbal communications on the day, and it’s very easy to get in touch with them should you have any concerns.
Read on GoogleMy son started his nursery when he was 2.He settled in very well and loves going the nursery. This is all because of the wonderful staff and care that is given to the children. The girls in the room are great. Staff are welcoming, friendly and enthusiastic. When my son started his nursery he was not speaking at all but now his speech has improved a lot and i can see drastic change in him and the whole credit goes to DEN NURSERY.
Read on GoogleMy son went this nursery last year and still misses it and remembers all the staff. The staff are so caring and professional. Nursery is managed very well and they took great care of my son's needs who has dairy allergy and eczema. They would always comfort him and give him the right attention when he was not feeling himself. I highly recommend this nursery. My son learnt so much and enjoyed it.
