The Friary Pre-School, established in 2015, provides a nurturing and engaging environment for children aged 2 to 4 years. Open term-time from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, the pre-school actively encourages independence, with children confidently engaging in activities like buttering toast for snack time or preparing for outdoor play.
Children show curiosity and eagerness to learn, benefiting from a broad and ambitious curriculum designed around their interests and individual learning needs. The pre-school fosters a sense of security through a well-established key-person system, ensuring all children, including those requiring additional support, settle quickly.
The experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) works closely with parents and outside agencies to provide inclusive support. Outdoor learning is a valued part of the curriculum, with children enjoying play and staff guiding them to understand safety and managed risks.
Parents consistently praise the staff, noting they "go above and beyond their expectations" and provide "superb effort and support" for their children. The pre-school was rated "Good" by Ofsted on 19th May 2023.

Inclusion & environment
The pre-school's special educational needs coordinator is very knowledgeable and experienced. The setting is inclusive, and children receive the support they need to enjoy a meaningful day. Professional but friendly relationships have been established with the parents and outside agencies, to ensure that they are informed and fully involved in the education and support provided for their children.
Children relish their time outdoors and engage in play with their friends. Staff educate children to help them understand how to keep themselves safe and take managed risks through well-planned activities outdoors.
