How they support every child

SEND provision

Children who need extra help with their learning make good progress. The special education needs coordinator (SENCO) completes relevant training and carries out her role effectively. She has a good knowledge of local referral procedures and seeks funding to help support children who may need extra help with learning. The SENCO works closely and sensitively with staff, parents and outside agencies to narrow any gaps in children's learning.

Outdoor space

Children often exercise and play outdoors in the fresh air. Children dress themselves in waterproof clothes, ready for outdoor play. Staff are vigilant and supervise children closely and complete regular headcounts when children play outdoors.

Our youngest child has been going to the German Kindergarten for almost 2 years now and we are very happy. Staff is well trained, professional and very child-oriented. I very much favour the play-centered approach, and I'm really happy they spend a lot of time outdoors. They offer lots of fun activities for the kids and their food options are healthy. Far better than any English nursery we visited. Our child is also well supported in learning German.

Our daughter is attending German Kindergarten Bermondsey since she was 2 years and we cannot be more happier with it. Great space, professional and caring teaches and German language as a bonus on the top:) All kids are happy their and feel safe and as at home away from home. And the food is just great: healthy and kids love it. Always detailed feedback from teachers regarding kids and their progress on all stages of their development. Can highly recommended to anyone who is looking for a strong foundation start for their kids. We specially goes every morning from the other side of the Tower Bridge just for this kindergarten.

Our child has attended the German Kindergarten Bermondsey for over two years. We have had experience of five nurseries in the area and have found the Kindergarten to be the best by far! We do not have any German connection in our family, however are simply grateful that our child is learning a second language. We love the space (outside and inside), the staff and the ethos. We have found the German style nursery to be better than the typical English style ones. So much so that we have considered a German bilingual primary school. We are so grateful to have found this nursery and to have gotten a space there, and are going to be very sad when our child has to leave for school. We 100% recommend this wonderful nursery.

Great place. My son loves it. It's a small place, with caring staff that feels like a second home for him. They provide top quality food and engage the kids in lots of interesting activities: - messy play - park visits - buying bread at the bakery nearby - baking healthy snacks - mixing colours from primary colours - poems - kids yoga - exploring continents and countries with songs, touching shells and stones or tasting food and spices - activities that help develop courage, self-confidence and taking responsibility like dark room, creating support system with badges to help tidy up, help younger kids get dressed, ... - music . . . The setup and location is also superb. Since it's a small Kindergarten you can get feedback every day if you are interested. There are non German speaking kids there too. In case you want a great place but are worried about the language barrier, my son did not understand/speak German before he started there. After half a year, his listening comprehension is really good. At the same time, his English improved as well as kids from varying backgrounds naturally tend to communicate in English.

Both our kids attended the German Kindergarten and we were really pleased with it. The staff is friendly and well trained. They are all native German speakers and our bi-lingual kids were very happy. Kids can get outside every day as they have a little garden and playground next door. This was something we really appreciated! The staff is also able to speak English with non-German speaking kids if necessary
