About this day nursery

Strong Tower Nurseries operates two distinct settings in South East London, catering to the varied childcare needs of families. Their Bermondsey branch, known as Strong Tower Around the Clock Nursery, offers extensive care, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, a service designed to support families requiring flexible childcare.

The Deptford Highstreet location, Strong Tower Day Nursery, has been serving the community for over 13 years, providing a nurturing environment during standard weekday hours. Both nurseries are committed to fostering the growth, development, and well-being of children through a supportive, diverse, and inclusive atmosphere.

They aim to scaffold children's success and provide comprehensive support to families. The nurseries are OFSTED approved, with their Bermondsey branch recently approved and the Deptford branch scheduled for an inspection in early 2025.

They emphasize creating a safe space for exploration, learning, and thriving. Families are encouraged to register and become part of their community.

What it's like

Leaders have identified the need to strengthen the consistency of teaching across the nursery. They are working to improve staff's implementation of the curriculum and consistency of teaching. Children enjoy the activities available to them and willingly join in. However, there is inconsistency in how interactions build on children's communication and language or extend their learning. As a result, children move on to different activities before they develop their learning further.

Staff adapt their interactions using appropriate communication strategies, such as simple language, repetition, gestures, and one-to-one support, to encourage understanding and participation. Leaders monitor children's development and adapt support as needed, working with parents to identify and support individual needs.
