The Nursery at Whitehouse Farm, located in Morpeth, provides a nurturing environment for children to learn and play, boasting an 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating from May 2025. At The Nursery at Whitehouse Farm, and its sister branch on Killingworth Way, the approach to education and childcare is rounded, appreciating that there is a lot more to children's development than academic success. The nursery ensures to help children develop emotionally and creatively as well as academically, treating each child as a unique individual and getting to know them on a personal level, believing this allows children to truly flourish and grow.

What it's like to attend

Children are curious, highly engaged and enthusiastic as they help to make bread, explore with fruit and herbs and blow soap bubbles.

Inspector highlights

  • Children are comfortable and confident learners. Staff create a home-from-home environment to help children to feel a strong sense of belonging, including photo booklets of each child's family and displays of children's pets.
  • Children take part in exciting activities that broaden their knowledge and horizons at this farm-based nursery. For example, staff teach children how to sensitively handle living things, as they help to care for chicks that are hatching.
  • There is outstanding support for children to develop their language. Staff introduce new words such as 'recipe', 'ingredients', 'instruction' and 'sachet' as children help to make bread.
  • Staff plan for children's physical development extremely well. They encourage children to stretch and dance before sitting, in order to help them to improve their focus.
  • Support for children's mathematical skills is excellent. Staff encourage children to measure themselves to see who is the tallest. Children experiment with coloured film to see what happens when they layer one colour on top of another.

Staff work closely with professionals in education and health who are involved with children, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Outdoor space

Children blow soap bubbles in the nursery's enclosed garden. Children take part in regular walks to greet the farm animals and explore the nursery's woodland garden.

Sweet enough place, staff were pleasant. Some cool animals especially the collection of birds of prey which were the highlight for the whole family.

Nice Day Out well worth the visit granddaughter petted rabbits . guinie pigs . Mouse . snake. Owl Funday out with massive park and activities weather made the day was Red Hot !!
