About this day nursery

Time Out, a childcare setting in Leeds, provides a nurturing environment where children aged 1-1 thrive. Registered in 2000, this nursery operates all year round, from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6pm.

The staff at Time Out are described as exceptionally kind, caring, and patient, forming very strong bonds with the children and being particularly sensitive to their individual needs. For instance, staff instinctively recognise when babies are tired and use comforting words and gestures to help them feel safe and secure.

The nursery is well-resourced, and children show high levels of motivation and a can-do attitude towards their learning, even at a very young age. This is evident in their independent play and problem-solving skills, such as giggling with delight as they practise putting hats on and off.

Outdoor learning is a key feature, with babies showing great excitement engaging with the natural world, observing squirrels, and expanding their vocabulary through staff interactions about the environment. Staff act as excellent role models, teaching children healthy habits like handwashing and supporting their communication and language development by speaking clearly, listening attentively, and repeating back what has been said.

The nursery also fosters a love of books, with staff regularly engaging children in reading, which supports their emotional well-being and self-esteem. Physical development is encouraged through various activities, including mark-making with chalks and confident movement around the environment.

The nursery owner provides an excellent level of support to staff, who are encouraged to be involved in decision-making and have access to regular supervision and ongoing development. Time Out received a "Good" rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 30th March 2023.
