About this day nursery

Two Little Birds Nursery in Coates, Pulborough, provides care for children aged from one to five years. It is open all year round, from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. The day nursery offers funded places for eligible two, three, and four-year-old children. The provision has a focus on outdoor activity, with children spending most of their day outside. The setting runs daily forest school sessions and weekly beach school sessions. Activities include climbing equipment and older children working together to carry logs and branches for artwork.

The day nursery was rated Good by Ofsted at its inspection in May 2025. The inspector noted that staff are passionate and plan activities based on children's interests in an engaging environment with open-ended resources. The report highlighted that children’s physical development is supported well and that they are confident communicators. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported by staff to make good progress.

The Two Little Birds Nursery's pedagogical approach is inspired by nature and the Reggio Emilia philosophy, incorporating Scandinavian nature nursery practices. They are dedicated to fostering happy, healthy, creative, and resilient children with a love for learning and the natural world, emphasising a gentle rhythm and rich play.

Pricing & funding

Fees are charged for all-year-round attendance based on half day or full day sessions, with separate rates for children under and over two years old. A consumables contribution is applied to certain funded hours, with financial assistance options available for eligible families.
