How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) very well, and they make good progress. The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) devotes her time to assessing and engaging children in targeted activities in the dedicated special education needs hub. Children enjoy taking part in activities that are differentiated to their level of development.

Outdoor space

Children continue their interest in story characters when they search for worms and other creatures while exploring outside. Staff take children on weekly visits to outdoor learning spaces, where they explore trees and plants.

A fantastic nursery for both my children, one of which still currently attends. Nothing is too much and they always cater to parents needs regarding childcare. They always put children first and do what is in their best interests not just learning but social, physical and emotional too. Would never pick another nursery over them they are wonderful.

Our daughter had a lovely time until she went up to pre-school. The key workers there had a negative view of her and would try to make her apologise for not listening when she was just three years old. The worker repeatedly sent her out of class to another worker’s class, who seemed to have an equally negative view of her behaviours. It got to the point where she came home and had epic meltdowns saying everyone was angry with her. Nursery called to say they thought she was sick, but she was actually just miserable and started to say she didn’t want to go in. She also began apologising for minor things like dropping a biscuit, as though she was on tender hooks and expecting to be criticised. We don’t feel nursery looked at what they were doing in terms of stimulation and behaviour management and instead defended their actions as ‘preparing her for school’ so we decided to remove her. Six months on she asked me the other night why her worker was angry at her, showing long term emotional impact. We are devastated we kept her there so long. Her new nursery have not ONCE in six months said anything negative about her. Instead she is stimulated and held in high regard; that is what she needs to build her confidence going into her school life, not feelings of shame and worry.

I only have positive things to say about Twyford Tots. My daughter has been with them since she was a baby and loved every single day there. The ladies are all smart, caring and accommodating to any changes. She has learnt so much from being there and always excited to tell me lovely stories of her days. I would recommend Twyfords to anyone. Honestly, there are days when I'd rather go there myself than be at work!! 😄
