About this day nursery

Woodlands Day Nursery & Family Centre is a welcoming and intimate setting, offering childcare for children from birth to 11 years old. The nursery focuses on an "in the moment" teaching and learning strategy, observing children closely and building strong key worker relationships to create personalised learning experiences based on individual interests.

The curriculum is delivered through effective teaching methods, promoting child-led learning and play to develop independence and decision-making skills. The nursery also offers a holiday club for children aged 3 to 11, providing a range of engaging indoor and outdoor activities.

Woodlands prides itself on a highly experienced leadership team with extensive teaching backgrounds in both private and primary school environments. They believe in fostering a love for learning and enabling every child to reach their full potential within a safe, inclusive, and natural holistic play-based setting.

The nursery has dedicated rooms for babies, 2 and 3-year-olds, and a preschool room led by a qualified early years teacher.

Our ethos

Woodlands Day Nursery & Preschool believes children develop best through facilitated child-led learning, and learning through play. We promote individual skills and decision-making, and give children access to facilities and equipment at all times, under the care and guidance of our specialist staff. At the Woodlands we believe in a natural holistic play based approach to learning. This enables staff to enhance the child’s learning and not interrupt their play but to support them in their play. This allows ownership of learning as they become independent learners.

My daughter thrived at Woodlands, she was non verbal when she went in at 2 year old. Her speech and communication improved massively, she speaks now in full sentences, can read and count to 20; she grew to be a bright confident little girl. I'm so grateful we found Woodlands the staff are all brilliant, knowledgeable and caring, including the SENCo and the management team.
