About this day nursery

Woodley Gardens Day Nursery, a private institution nestled in Woodley, Reading, offers exceptional childcare services for families in the Reading area and its environs. As a branch of The Forbury Group, established in 1991, Woodley Gardens opened its doors in 2017, joining its sister nurseries: Forbury Gardens (1991), Berkeley Gardens (2011), Newbury Gardens (2013), and the more recent Waingels Gardens Day Nursery.

The nursery caters to children aged 3 months to 5 years, operating 51 weeks a year, Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 6 pm, with both full-time and part-time options available. Conveniently situated on Reading Road, it provides easy access to the M4, A329, and Reading town centre.

The nursery's philosophy revolves around fostering an environment where children are engaged, motivated, and independent thinkers, developing a positive approach to learning through secure and respectful relationships. They believe in providing individualised attention to nurture each child's social, emotional, and intellectual growth.

Our ethos

Our ethos is to create an environment where children are engaged, motivated, independent thinkers, who have a positive attitude to learning, supported by secure and respectful relationships. We only have one chance to get it right for our children and what we do now, stays with them for the rest of their lives.

What it's like

Staff greet children and their parents and ask about their morning, helping children to enter happy and ready to learn. Staff want children to be confident and independent, creating an environment where children can make choices and lead their own play. They engage and interact with children to extend their vocabulary, using questions to encourage them to describe what they are doing and why.

My little one, Alfie, started nursery at just 10 months old, and he’s been there for almost four years. He’s loved every moment, made friends with local children, and built wonderful connections with all the staff - I’d highly recommend it.

We absolutely love the team at woodley gardens day nursery! Very welcoming to all adults and children. My eldest attended for 3 years and my youngest currently attends. The team are nothing short of amazing, very attentive, enthustiastic, great with the little ones. Both my kids have thrived here, I have seen such a growth in them both and a new found confidence. Can’t recommend enough.
