Opening hours
9am until 4pm from Monday to Friday
Yesodey Hatorah Nursery, established in 2001, provides term-time childcare for children aged 0-4 years, operating from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. The nursery received a 'Good' rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 6th March 2024.
The setting excels in fostering highly effective partnerships with parents and maintaining strong key-person arrangements, ensuring children feel happy and secure. Staff diligently plan and deliver an ambitious curriculum tailored to individual needs and interests, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) effectively oversees support for children with SEND, collaborating closely with key staff and parents to create targeted plans and facilitate timely referrals to external agencies. The curriculum successfully integrates teaching related to faith and culture with the requirements of the early years foundation stage, helping children understand their world and community.
Children engage in purposeful learning throughout the day, benefiting from precise planning that addresses individual knowledge gaps and interests. They also participate in regular routines promoting physical well-being, such as hand washing and consuming healthy, freshly prepared onsite food.
While children do enjoy access to outdoor play, the planning for these areas, especially for the youngest children, is not as well-developed as the indoor provisions, with resources sometimes not being optimally organised for accessibility. The nursery provides children with opportunities to develop early language skills and vocabulary in both English and Yiddish through interactions, stories, and engaging singing sessions tied to curriculum topics.

Inclusion & environment
Staff ensure that all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), make good progress in their learning. The setting's special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) has a good overview of children with SEND and works closely with children's key persons and parents to develop effective plans to support children to make good progress. Leaders ensure that timely referrals for additional support are made to external agencies.
Children enjoy access to outdoor play during the day. However, staff do not plan outdoor play areas, particularly for the youngest children, as well as those indoors. For example, children struggle to use equipment because resources are not organised in a way that makes them accessible.
