Blossom and Bloom Day Nursery, established in Yapton in 2022, offers a nurturing environment for children aged 0-3. The nursery's approach is deeply rooted in fostering curiosity and child-led exploration, with a Scandinavian-inspired baby room designed to stimulate young minds.
The dedicated team comprises highly qualified and experienced childcare practitioners who are passionate about child development and understand the profound impact they have on a child's early education. The curriculum is built upon five pillars: the nursery's ethos, cultural capital, statutory guidelines, strong parent partnerships, and the 3i's (Intent, Implementation, Impact).
The ethos is based on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, ensuring children's physiological needs, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualisation are met. The nursery emphasises outdoor learning and exploration, utilising its garden space and local community for enriching experiences.
They also provide SEN provision, including a sensory room. Blossom and Bloom works closely with parents, valuing their intuition and providing regular updates through an app called Famly, ensuring a holistic approach to childcare that supports the entire family.
Our ethos
Our ethos is largely based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and the understanding that there are 5 essential needs that have to be met in order for children to thrive. Children’s physiological needs have to be met - they need to feel physically comfortable, this means managing any aspects that prevent that, ensuring they are not hungry, thirsty, cold or hot or tired. Their basic physiological needs have to be met first and foremost. Safety - Children have the right, need and are entitled to feel safe and secure both physically and emotionally - we can achieve this by ensuring risk assessments and policies are in place as well as ensuring the environment is warm, inviting and promotes curiosity. Love and Belonging - Children need connection and warmth in order to feel comforted and promote strong emotional security. We can achieve this with a well thought out key worker system and ensuring every child/ family has a key person whose responsibility it is to love and care for them. Esteem - Children find confidence in our trust in them, they need to be trusted to be curious and allowed the freedom to safely explore their surroundings. We achieve this by offering an environment which focuses on developing curiosity, wonder and awe. We use positive affirmations to promote children’s self esteem and we show we are proud of their achievements. Self Actualisation - Fostering children’s creative needs and problem solving, this is something that develops over time and deals with a sense of contentment - it requires practitioners to be responsive to children’s interests and needs and reactive to their communication.

Inclusion & environment
Overall, staff support children's emerging speech and language development well, using play and repetition to introduce new words. However, staff do not always use communication aids consistently to help those who need it most reach their fullest potential.
Worse nursery ever. DO NOT take your kids here if you want them to feel neglected. My child would often come home covered in bite marks from another kid! The building outside looks dirty and run down. Very unprofessional & rude staff and constantly losing my child's belongings!
Read on GoogleWent to view this nursery at the beginning of may. The first thing that hits you when you go in is the smell of damp and stained broken ceiling tiles. Apparently they were doing some “DIY” and had a pile of wood and all sorts of bits and bobs stacked up 6-7ft high in one of the sleeping rooms. Very unsafe! Outside they had a decking made of broken old pallets. this is a trip hazard if a child’s foot gets caught in there. Would avoid at all cost.
