Community Playcentre @ Walberton provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children from birth to four years old, alongside offering before and after-school clubs and holiday provisions for primary school children. Located in the picturesque village of Walberton, the centre, established in 2015 through community fundraising, prides itself on fostering confidence and individuality in each child.
The nursery is thoughtfully divided into a babies' area for those aged 0-2 and an 'overs' area for 3-4-year-olds. Open 51 weeks a year, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, the centre offers flexible scheduling with options for all-year or term-time attendance, as well as various session lengths like school mornings, school hours, or full days.
A dedicated team of qualified practitioners ensures up-to-date practices and individualised support through a key person system, using platforms like Tapestry for parent communication. The facility boasts a large outdoor space, accessible in all weather, encouraging independent exploration and structured group activities.
With an in-house kitchen, two cooks prepare healthy, home-cooked meals, accommodating dietary needs and allergies, with breakfast, snacks, and an evening meal included in relevant session prices. The Playcentre is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, promoting positivity and respect, and supporting each child's journey to becoming a confident learner.

Inclusion & environment
Staff are skilled at providing a high level of teaching to all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Despite this, all children, including those with SEND, make good progress from their starting points.
Children enjoy time outdoors and learn to take managed risks safely, developing physical skills as they ride on bicycles and during water play. Babies enjoy the fresh air and staff provide sensory experiences outdoors, such as rice and sand play.
Lovely nursery, friendly, both my children have enjoyed their time here. My son who is now at school wishes he could go back 🙂 my daughter has developed many fantastic new skills, and shows a high level of independence since she started in September, it has and continues to be a very positive environment for my daughter.
