Yesterday was my daughter’s first day at the nursery, and it was a really wonderful experience. She absolutely loved it! The teachers, Chathurika and Ope, are amazing. They welcomed her very warmly and explained everything to her so kindly and patiently. My daughter felt comfortable and happy from the very first day. First Step Nursery is truly awesome. I am giving 5 stars and a well-deserved positive review.

Our family had a great and consistent experience at this nursery from 2019 through to summer 2025, for our two children who both started in the baby room at 11 months through to leaving for school. I really appreciate the “home from home” feel and the way staff (where turnover has been low, in our experience) know each child well and how to engage with and support their development. Fresh meals are cooked on site daily, and the office has always been prompt to reply which is appreciated. Convenient location for either Plumstead station or quick bus ride to Woolwich for Elizabeth line.

All my 4 kids attended this nursery and my experience with the nursery is indescribable. All staff members are friendly, kind and always ready to help. The manager(Chippo) went above and beyond for my family when I needed her to vouch for me and I will forever be grateful. A good place to lay the learning foundation for your kids.

My son has attended First Steps in Plumstead since he was 14 months old. He is now 3.5 and he is so happy there. The setting is small with babies, toddlers and preschoolers split out into separate rooms. Communication is frequent and the staff are kind and caring. They know every child and know my son extremely well. Nursery is open 7-7 which is perfect for busy parents. Would highly recommend.

Avoid this nursery if you have a Sen child. The staff is very rude, and do not care about your child learning and development. They only see your child as a problem even if your child does little things, like not sharing or not listening all the time, which is normal for their age(3-5y).The staff and management don't care about your child, never give you a proper handover, and not communicating with the parents as well as being rude and judgemental. For them all the children should be the same. I'm very disappointed with this nursery and the staff, but happy that my boy doesn't have to waste his time there. Lots of the qualified staff left this nursery which obviously had a bad impact in the overall quality of service. I will thank you just the very few persons that were empathetic and connected with my boy and made him feel loved and welcomed and gave him cuddles when he needed. The other staff members should go to some extra courses and learn how to help, love and understand children no matter their abilities as well as respect and support parents that have children with Sen or children with more challenging behaviour and not making them feel guilty if their children have had a bad day at nursery.
