Jack and Jill Pre-school, located in Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, boasts over 30 years of providing quality childcare. The pre-school offers flexible options for families, including full or extended day care, with choices for term-time only or year-round attendance.

With a dedicated team of experienced Early Years Practitioners, they deliver learning and development opportunities for children aged 0-5 through a blend of play and structured activities. The pre-school aims to offer high-quality learning experiences in a safe, stimulating environment, adhering to the EYFS framework and preparing children for school.

They prioritise each child's individuality, parental involvement as primary educators, positive relationships, diversity, equality, and respecting one another and the environment. Established in 1982 as a community playgroup, it has evolved into a pre-school with four directors, moving to purpose-built premises in 2009.

The pre-school is known for its highly qualified staff, excellent resources, stimulating curriculum, and small group activities like Forest School, Cooking Club, and Curious Explorers. They divide the children into three age-appropriate rooms: The Nest for babies aged 6 months to two years, The Little Ark for two to three-year-olds, and The Ark for three and four-year-olds, each with a specific staff ratio.

They also feature a dedicated dining room with qualified staff to promote healthy eating habits and social skills, as well as purpose-built toilet facilities to encourage independence. Outdoor learning is facilitated by a covered deck and garden area.

What it's like

Leaders construct an ambitious and well-designed curriculum to help children meet their developmental milestones and become independent, inquisitive and happy learners. Staff build respectful relationships with children, seeking consent during care routines and helping them feel safe. Children regularly visit a local care home, participating in activities with residents and learning about physical impairments and community diversity.
