Mill House Nursery, established in 2014, provides quality childcare with a focus on play-based learning and a home-from-home atmosphere. They cater to children from 0-4 years old, using an 'In the moment planning' approach to create playful learning opportunities based on children's interests.
The nursery believes in parental involvement, utilising a key worker system and an online platform called Famly to share children's progress and milestones with parents. They are committed to safeguarding and providing equal opportunities for all children in a secure and stimulating environment.
Community engagement is also a key aspect, with weekly visits to local parks and excursions to points of interest to reinforce learning themes. The nursery is Ofsted registered and follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework in an informal, play-based way.
With a strong and experienced team, including staff specially trained for babies and toddlers, and qualified teachers for 3 and 4-year-olds, Mill House Nursery aims to prepare children for their transition to school.
Our ethos
Here at Mill House Nursery, your child will be at the core of everything we do. We follow ‘In the moment planning’, taking what your child is interested in and turning it into playful learning opportunities that will encourage and develop your child’s learning and growth. Recognising that children learn most effectively when having fun, we promote learning through play as an excellent method for accessing the Early Years Child Care Curriculum. We understand the importance and significance of choosing the right setting for you and your child. This is why we aim to offer a ‘home from home’ atmosphere, fostering a smooth transition from family life to our settings.

Mill House has been our first experience of childcare and we really couldn’t be happier with our son being there. Since our son first started, all of the staff have made sure he felt comfortable and happy, listening to him and working with us to make the transition to nursery positive. There is a vast range of activities the children do and the staff make the whole place feel homely and inclusive. We really love it and will be sad to leave when our son starts school!
Read on GoogleWe have three children and have used a number of childcare settings over the last five years. I can honestly say that Mill House is the best setting that any of our children have attended. All of the staff are excellent and friendly. Emily and Catherine manage the nursery in a way that is highly professional whilst still being approachable. They communicate really well with us as parents and I feel confident that my children are happy and well looked after at Mill House. My three year old daughter has really developed since moving to Mill House, in particular there has been a real improvement in her communication skills and manners. I would recommend to any parents.
Read on GoogleI put both my children into Millhouse after having issues at there previous nursery, from the moment I met with the management team and the rest of the staff I instantly knew this was the right setting for my children my eldest had 4 months at Millhouse before graduating to school. She absolutely loved her time with them. She still loves going in now to see everyone andchas commented on a few occasions that she misses going to Millhouse. All the staff are so supportive not just to our children but to us parents too. I will be sad When my youngest daughters time at Millhouse comes to an to start school as they are all fantastic.
Read on GoogleA lovely nursery setting with friendly, professional staff. My son loves it here and thinks of it as another home. He is always involved in an exciting activity or learning about a new theme which is great to talk about when he gets home. They have recently been doing some renovations and I'm really impressed with the improvements so far.
Read on GoogleMy son has SEN and is starting school next week, he is going to miss this nursery sooo much. I cannot thank them enough for all the help and support they have given him and me. I have never felt so relaxed and happy while my son has been at nursery before. They have always done all they can to meet his needs wether this be his sensory difficulties, keeping him safe as he isn’t aware of danger and has no fear, his fussy eating habits, his communication and interaction or just general joining in and doing activities. He started with them last October and his last day was today, he has come on so much in that time with them. I could not recommend them enough. My son has been to 4 nurseries for various reasons house move, job move etc and this one blows all the others out of the water by far. I have never once cried when he’s had to change nursery but I cried both yesterday and today about him having to leave this nursery. Thank you for taking such good care of my baby and always having his best interests at heart. 😊
