Oldfield Park Pre-School, a registered charity overseen by a volunteer committee, offers a nurturing and purposeful learning environment within Oldfield Park Infant School. Established over 35 years ago as a playgroup, it has evolved to provide care and early education for children aged two to five.

Staff are passionate and excellent role models, constantly reflecting on provisions and improving children's experiences, like growing fruits and vegetables or attending local theatre shows.

Pricing & funding

The nursery charges hourly rates based on the child's age for any hours over the funded allowance and early drop-off sessions. Standard blocks run in three-hour sessions, for which a voluntary consumables contribution is requested. A one-off non-refundable registration fee applies.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are very well supported. Early intervention is quickly identified and discussed with parents. The special educational needs coordinator is proactive in getting professionals on board, and staff introduce a wide range of strategies, such as using an 'attention bucket' to help children take turns, ensuring they get the help and support needed to prevent gaps in learning from widening. Children in receipt of additional funding are also supported well, with funds used to buy specific resources or to attend extra sessions, helping them acquire skills for future learning. The pre-school receives inclusion funding to support children with SEND.

Outdoor space

The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this was having on children's learning.
