PATA @ Penguins is a Chepstow-based nursery focused on fostering a love for learning and confidence in children. The nursery aims to create an environment where children are excited, curious, and motivated, developing a 'can do' attitude and feeling secure enough to become independent, resilient, and problem-solving risk-takers.
Through a safe, secure, and learning-rich setting, PATA @ Penguins supports children's development by offering varied activities and opportunities for critical thinking. The nursery intends for children to be confident, inquisitive learners who are eager to try new things and make good progress, ultimately preparing them for a smooth transition to school.
They operate with a key person approach to support individual children's needs and help them form relationships. The nursery is expanding to welcome babies and under 2s from September 2025 at its Sedbury setting, which will include forest school activities.
Our ethos
Our Mission: To be a quality Early Years care & learning community which inspires everyone to be the best they can be! Parents state that staff go 'above and beyond' to ensure that their children settle in with ease, feel secure and are happy.
Inclusion & environment
Staff know how to nurture children's sense of belonging and offer consistent support for those children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The provision for children with SEND is strong, with leaders and key persons having a clear understanding of individual needs and working closely with parents and external professionals to ensure early help through targeted plans and intervention.
Children benefit from regular physical exercise, including walks to the local library and woodland trails.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff at Penguin Nursery. Suli has really enjoyed her time at the nursery – the teachers have been amazing, so friendly, and supportive. She has learned so much and grown in confidence during her time with you all. We feel truly lucky to have had the opportunity to celebrate Fiji Day with the teachers and children – it meant a lot to us and made us feel so welcomed and included. We highly recommend Penguin Nursery to any parent. It’s a brilliant setting, especially with the fantastic outdoor activities and trips that give the children so many valuable learning experiences beyond the classroom. Thank you again for everything you’ve done for Suli! Warm regards, S.Meli

Read on GoogleFantastic nursery with lovely caring staff. Daughter has really come out of her shell after attending penguins. They ladies always took such good care of my little girl, who was often anxious when entering the nursery. They would give her a hug and comfort her which made her then feel at ease. We will both miss the ladies and can't thank you enough for all that you have done.
